From inside the album – ” … This album then is a collection of short adventures I’ve written for sampled piano. Some of the pieces are to be played in the real world. Others demand a 5-handed cyber-being with perfect time (usually called a computer). They all honor the many influences I’ve had: from Bach, Scarlatti, Chopin, and Mompou to Thelonius Monk, Cecil Taylor, and Art Lande. These preludes are also indebted conceptually, if not stylistically, to the work of Conlon Nancarrow, that eccentric master of the Player Piano.”
