Yoshi Gurwell

Original and Classical Ballet CDs and Music books for Ballet Technique Classes

Yoshi Gurwell has been a ballet pianist for more than 12 years.  She has studied the works of many major companies and choreographers, plus studied, and arranged music of many ballet composers. At this time, Yoshi is doing a series of piano pieces, from well-known ballets, for Etoile Publishing in Japan. She has also released ballet class CD series, entitled “Music for Ballet Lovers Vols. 1 through 8”.   Each CD in this series has a different focus and style.

Yoshi is currently on staff of the dance departments at UC Irvine, Cal State Univ. Long Beach, The Wooden Floor in Santa Ana, California, and Westside School of Ballet in West Los Angeles, including their summer intensive for young dancers with SAB.

Also, she does ongoing special events for Chapman Univ., Loyola Marymount Univ., RAD, Los Angeles Ballet, Southland Ballet, Maple Conservatory, Defore Dance Center, and Long Beach Ballet. Yoshi has recently worked for summer intensives with the Joffrey Ballet and ABT.

Some of the former and current professional dancers Yoshi has worked with include Gelsi Kirkland, Susan Jaffe, Melissa Hale Cole, Vladimir Malakhov, Ethan Stiefel, Misty Copeland, Paloma Herrera and Melissa Bowman of ABT, Alexi Moskalenko, Alexander Greschenko, Gennadi and Larissa Saveliev from the Bolshoi Ballet, Yvonne Mounsey, Colleen Neary, Patricia Neary and Darcy Kistler of the New York City Ballet; Alice Alyse of the Joffrey Ballet, and Patricia Barker of Pacific Northwest Ballet
