Deanna Low

Ballet Class Syllabus and Children’s CDs

Deanna began her professional dancing career at 8 in Norfolk, Va., on WTAR, appearing in a weekly TV show Deanna for 2 years. At age 13, she danced with the North Carolina Ballet Company. At age 16, she was touring with the 3rd Army throughout the East and South. She attended East Carolina University majoring in drama and psychology.

At age 19, she danced with the Radio City Music Hall’s Rockettes and in Horn In The West in Boone North Carolina. She appeared in the Smithsonian’s Theatre On The Mall. She danced in summer stock, nightclubs and dinner theaters throughout the country and studied with world famous teachers including Matt Maddox, Gus Giordano, Phil Black, Margaret Craske, and Luigi.

She started teaching at age 16, opening her own studio shortly thereafter.  Later, after college and a professional career, she returned to her own studio business in Virginia.  The studio grew by leaps and bounds, expanded into 3 locations that were full to overflowing for many years.  During this period, she also taught creative dance in daycare centers to introduce new students to dance.  Over the years she has probably taught over 10,000 students!!

Additionally, she co-authored a basic early childhood education text on theme oriented and age appropriate dance material to coincide with art, music, science, and finger play for ages 2 through 4. In 1996 she created Danc’eM, an age-appropriate dance program which she uses personally in her Colorado dance studio and sells to other dance schools and homeschoolers around the world. And, she is the author of the book, Secrets of Running a Successful Dance Business.

Currently, she has created FIVE  BALLET BARRE & CENTRE SYLLABUSES for five levels of ballet. Working with June Olsson, these exercises were coordinated to the BALLET BARRE AND CENTRE CDS.  These books and cds are designed to help studio teachers by providing lesson plans for every level of ballet technique and training.

Under her company, Danc’eM, she has also produced a year long curriculum (with music) for a creative movement program that includes nine months of lessons and a recital for the end of the year.  Part of this program are the PREBALLET DANCES Vol 1-6, CDs with fully orchestrated music and songs by Nashville Recording Producer, Ron Oates and set to Deanna’s dances which are explained in the accompanying dance notes.
