Marina Surgan has been Principal Pianist / Head of Musicians for Canada’s National Ballet School since 1986. Classically trained in the former USSR, Marina joined NBS in 1978. Highlights of her creative career include composing music for the Cecchetti Grade Examination, accompanist for the third International Ballet Competition in Jackson Mississippi, and the First International Congress of classical and contemporary ballet in Mexico. Prix de Lausanne used Marina’s piano recording of the 10 Classical Variations. Marina also tours with NBS across Canada and internationally, playing master classes and conducting workshops for ballet teachers and ballet accompanists all over the world, including Mexico, Germany, France, Finland, Sweden and Japan.
Tatiana Tchernova is a world known teacher who teaches at Canada’s National Ballet School. she also works for the National Ballet of Canada. she is regularly invited to teach at Finnish National Ballet in Helsinki, the Korean National Ballet and Korean University of Arts in Seoul, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. For many years, Tchernova has been invited to teach at USA International Ballet competition in Jackson, Mississippi and a number of noteworthy ballet schools and competitions.
