Ray To Go – Percussion Music for Dance Class by Ray McNamara
“This project began at the request of dancers and choreographers who asked for a recording of music similar to what I play in class.
…After many requests, I decided to pursue a classroom type recording. I wanted the live interaction feeling that I got from working with dancers. So with the help of Wendy Rogers, I started this project. We got together in the studio and talked about possibilities. We then proceeded to have a mini class as I played through some ideas. Wendy danced in the space and I recorded many of the tracks on this recording. The result is a purely organic improvisation based on the interaction of musician and dancer. All the tracks are intentionally long to facilitate classroom use.
They all maintain a consistent tempo and energy throughout, except track 11, the ‘Textural Piece’.” … Ray McNamara
